Watching Your Diet during Christmas

Posted by: Max   in Christmas Diet

Christmas is the time of year most people put on a few extra unwanted pounds. There are several things you can do to avoid the added weight. You might have to work a little harder than normal but it will be well worth it in the long run.

The work environment may be full of artificial Christmas trees, decorations, and plates of food. It is the time of year everyone shows off their baking skills and they bring in platefuls of fudge, cookies, cake, and other various very fattening foods. If they aren’t cooking the food they are still bringing in things from the bakery at the local grocery store. Your department has food and the entire organization is probably planning a potluck. In addition, all of your co-workers probably have piles of candy and snacks at their desk. You have to maintain control at work and don’t grab at the fudge and cookies this year. Instead, take a brisk walk around the building. You should keep gum at your desk or a healthy snack so when everyone is eating the fattening foods you have something better to hold back your temptations. Work is usually the place people gain the most weight during the holiday season.

When you are at home and planning a party or you know you will be spending more time in the kitchen than normal you also must be aware of the temptations. You don’t want to gain an extra 20 pounds this year like you did last year. Remember how long it took you to get it off? If you are having a lot of guests over for the holiday you might consider having people bring food too. This will help you eliminate time you spend in the kitchen. It will also help with the amount of snacking you do while you are cooking. You might be a taster. This will help eliminate you tasting everything to make sure it is good to serve to the guests.

During the Christmas holidays you should try and get plenty of exercise. You will get your fair share of exercise putting up the Christmas trees at home. You might consider helping put all of the artificial Christmas trees up at work too. Find decorating projects to do and keep yourself busy. Exercise more throughout the holiday. The best thing you can do is walk. Walk around your work or walk on a treadmill. Don’t give in to the treats of the holiday season because you will gain those unwanted pounds very quickly.

There are many things you can do to avoid the added weight this year. Many people are prepared to gain the weight and they say they don’t care because the holiday is worth it. Although, they say this every year they really don’t mean it. It also might seem like every year the pounds are harder and harder to get off. Avoid the candy and food at work this year. When you are at home preparing for guests you can have someone help you get out of the kitchen or ask guests to bring things too.
