Watching Your Diet during Christmas

Posted by: Max    in Christmas Diet

Christmas is the time of year most people put on a few extra unwanted pounds. There are several things you can do to avoid the added weight. You might have to work a little harder than normal but it will be well worth it in the long run.

The work environment may be full of artificial Christmas trees, decorations, and plates of food. It is the time of year everyone shows off their baking skills and they bring in platefuls of fudge, cookies, cake, and other various very fattening foods. If they aren’t cooking the food they are still bringing in things from the bakery at the local grocery store. Your department has food and the entire organization is probably planning a potluck. In addition, all of your co-workers probably have piles of candy and snacks at their desk. You have to maintain control at work and don’t grab at the fudge and cookies this year. Instead, take a brisk walk around the building. You should keep gum at your desk or a healthy snack so when everyone is eating the fattening foods you have something better to hold back your temptations. Work is usually the place people gain the most weight during the holiday season.

When you are at home and planning a party or you know you will be spending more time in the kitchen than normal you also must be aware of the temptations. You don’t want to gain an extra 20 pounds this year like you did last year. Remember how long it took you to get it off? If you are having a lot of guests over for the holiday you might consider having people bring food too. This will help you eliminate time you spend in the kitchen. It will also help with the amount of snacking you do while you are cooking. You might be a taster. This will help eliminate you tasting everything to make sure it is good to serve to the guests.

During the Christmas holidays you should try and get plenty of exercise. You will get your fair share of exercise putting up the Christmas trees at home. You might consider helping put all of the artificial Christmas trees up at work too. Find decorating projects to do and keep yourself busy. Exercise more throughout the holiday. The best thing you can do is walk. Walk around your work or walk on a treadmill. Don’t give in to the treats of the holiday season because you will gain those unwanted pounds very quickly.

There are many things you can do to avoid the added weight this year. Many people are prepared to gain the weight and they say they don’t care because the holiday is worth it. Although, they say this every year they really don’t mean it. It also might seem like every year the pounds are harder and harder to get off. Avoid the candy and food at work this year. When you are at home preparing for guests you can have someone help you get out of the kitchen or ask guests to bring things too.

Having a Smart Christmas Holiday

Posted by: Max    in Christmas Holidays

There are many things you can do to have a smart Christmas holiday. You need to be prepared so the entire month of December into the New Year is as good as you want it to be. Many of the things you need to do is plan ahead, budge properly, and get things mailed out on time.

Planning is everything when it comes to Christmas. If you have a lot of people to buy gifts for you might start the purchasing process months in advance. This can ensure you have everyone covered and enough money to buy. It is important to make a list of all of the things you need to do during the holiday. Even if you plan on spending a night driving around looking at the lit up shops and the lighted palm trees you should put this on the list. Be sure to cross things off as you complete them. Your list should be reviewed every day so you can add to it or take things off.

Christmas is a difficult time of year because it is hard to stick to a budget. You might find things are more expensive than you expected them to be and find that you are broke before the holiday even arrives. This is common for most people because they don’t know how to budget. You should also have list for the things you need to buy and the people you need to buy for. You also might consider buying an artificial Christmas tree to save on the cost next year. This is a really good idea. You can buy artificial garlands to decorate the tree. The added cost this year will save you next year. When you buy gifts for friends and family members it is important to budget properly. Don’t buy everything at once when you get your paycheck. Be sure to buy gifts slowly and only what you can afford.

When you buy gifts for family members who live out of town you will be required to ship them out. You may be one of those people who cannot even get something to the mailbox out in front of your house and sure the gifts will never get to them. You have to write this on your list for a day to get things out to the post office. Be sure you mail things out with enough time to get the gifts to them before Christmas. You don’t want people to receive your items after the holiday. One of the best ways to ensure this is to buy gifts online. You can pay for the fast shipping. If you know you will never make it to the post office, buy the out of town relative’s gifts online.

If you want the holiday to be a successful one you must be smart about the way you plan it. Make a list of everything you need to do and everything you need to buy. Be sure to budget wisely and do not buy what you cannot afford. This will make for a miserable holiday. Also, if you have to ship items out to family members be sure that you go to the post office more than a week in advance. It is the busiest time of year for the post office and you want to be sure the gifts get to them on time.
